WEST YORKSHIRE · PROJECT 001

01 / GPR survey beneath the bridge, Wetherby.
THE PROJECT
Below ground. On record.
Following the appearance of a sinkhole, concerns were raised about subsurface conditions beneath the bridge in Wetherby. Window sampling was planned to investigate the ground, with survey information needed first to help assess the risk of heavy machinery travelling over potential underground voids.
Supporting a Leeds City Council project, ORVA carried out a GPR void detection survey to investigate potential voids ahead of these works. A PAS 128 utility survey was also undertaken to detect and map buried services, supporting the planning of window-sampling locations and reducing the risk of utility strikes during drilling.

Investigation before intrusive works.
The GPR survey investigated potential subsurface voids ahead of planned machinery access and window sampling. The PAS 128 utility survey provided information on buried services to support safer drilling decisions.
Topographical surveying recorded site levels, features and survey positions. Survey information was provided to the project team as CAD drawings in DWG format.
